A Little Information About Downtown Sarasota
Downtown Sarasota
Known as the best small city in the US, Sarasota is packed full of art galleries, restaurants, shopping centers, and history. While you will find a lot to see and do here, downtown Sarasota manages to retain that small-town charm that so many people love while still offering a lifestyle of luxury.
Popular Events
A favorite activity among locals is an event called First Friday. Every month on the first Friday local businesses along Palm Avenue and Main Street stay open later and allow their patrons to sip wine while they shop. In addition, every Saturday there is a farmer’s market on Lemon and Main where locals can go for freshly baked muffins and pastries before they pick up their fresh produce. Afterwards, they can walk around and look at arts and crafts. As they venture away from the farmer’s market, there are used bookstores to peruse, small cafes where they can stop to get their coffee fix, and many other interesting shops and attractions to keep them entertained.
Sarasota is also known as the Cultural Capital of Florida thanks to the array of museums and art galleries and events around the city. The Ringling Museum of Art has a special event that takes places after hours called Art After 5 in which you can walk around and look at the art exhibits while sipping a cocktail. The city even offers art walks in the evenings where you can listen to live music while enjoying the different art galleries.
